A magna cum laude alumnus of Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, John Moss Wathen IV was also an award-winning track athlete and captain of the school’s varsity soccer team. After graduating in 2013, John Wathen IV enrolled at Pennsylvania State University.

While studying for his BS in aerospace engineering at Penn State, John Moss Wathen IV was a cadet in the Air Force ROTC program and earned the Major Lewis Award for his academic performance and exhibition of leadership potential, personal accountability, and all other Air Force values. He also worked in part-time roles at Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Area, Pocono Valley Resort, College Gardens, and Penn State’s Beaver Stadium.

Since graduating in 2017, Mr. Wathen has worked as a laborer at Nastase Construction and Supplies, where he installed fencing and gates, and Fairchild’s Concrete Contracting, Inc., where he helped pour and finish concrete for basements and garage floors. He aspires to work as an airline pilot and is expected to start flight school in September 2020.
